Why you need Travel Insurance?
The overriding principle of 24DrTravel, is that customers should understand what they are buying and what options are available for travel insurance cover.
First we believe the perception, that in hard times, savings can be made in 'non essentials' under which some people include travel insurance could not be more wrong. The level of cover purchased can be reduced, but the lack of travel insurance cover can break the bank for those who are already stretched.
Are you over 65?
Next, we want to make travel insurance available for all travellers, particularly those over 65. We would argue that it is even more important for those pensioners buying travel insurance at over 65 years of age. Not buying travel cover is a false economy.
The cost of an air ambulance at over £10,000 from Spain to the UK, is a cost most travelling pensioners would not have the means to pay without serious knock on effects.
Our aim is to offer travel insurance to all ages but in particular to those over 65. We have annual multi trip insurance for those up to 79 years of age and single trip travel insurance for those over 80.
Do you have pre existing medical conditions?
The second strand of our approach is to be in a position to offer a degree of cover to all travellers and give the individual the choice of whether they include pre existing medical conditions on their policy.
Again, it is those over 65 travellers who are most likely to have medical conditions that are excluded automatically by most travel insurance products. We believe that the option to include them should be available to enable the traveller to make a choice on the amount of risk they are happy to carry themselves.
How much cover do you need?
With this goes the availability of different levels of cover. Some individuals are happy at levels of travel insurance that others consider inadequate or extravagant. To help, we are introducing a Basic Economy level of cover which will cover the Essentials as an option for those who want cheap travel insurance.
We firmly recommend a basic level of travel insurance for all, in particular pensioners and those aged over 65. If money is tight, carry as much risk as you can afford but get the rest covered.
